Here are some photographs I included in my final project this year. I was happy to receive constructive criticism during the final critique on Monday. I guess it's still a work in progress...
The following work is a visual expression of how I'm finding a place in my new, Israeli surroundings. It's about coping with an unfamiliar atmosphere, wanting to be seen but not to steal the glory from the landscape itself. I wished to be a humble ornament, decorating the scenes that enticed me into the sweltering heat to document them. But sometimes, I let the landscape envelop the entire canvas without interference.
As my quirky teacher commented, "This is Alice in (the) Holy-Land". Although not physically present in every photograph, each one shows my unique outlook on this place.
And in case you didn't catch the reference:
Sincerely Sophie
In the first photo, you remind me of yourself in a picture Dad took of you when you were little, running on the beach (I think), in a blue coverup of the same color. Do you know what I'm referring to? It was very cool to see your exhibit and hear what everyone had to say about it. Go Soph!

I like. I can't wait to talk to you (in person) about what you are thinking here.
