Despite my Lack of Kitchen...

Asturias (May 2009)

Here are my top 40-something pictures from my trip to Spain. The northern region where I stayed is called Asturias, and I lived in a city called Gijón. I stayed there for 3.5 weeks for my senior internship. I shadowed various schools (ranging from toddlers to college students), made comparisons between the education systems in Spain and in the U.S., as well as helped out in English classes, lived like the Asturianos, and of course, captured it all on film. Hope ya like!

I’ve had all kinds of fun snapping photos of the boys from my favorite band, Fools & Horses. It helps that they’re from Baltimore and don’t mind playing close to home. Not to mention, they’re very photogenic! Some of these photos have been sitting in my library, half-edited for weeks. But I FINALLY got my act together and picked out my favorites. Despite my Lack of Kitchen...

A few weeks ago I made a really delicious broccoli salad from a recipe I found online. I have to be creative sometimes in the kitchen because my little apartment doesn't have a stove, plus I don't have all the essential kitchen appliances, AND I can't get a huge variety of fresh food where I live. But next year, I'll most likely be living in a neighborhood that has better quality markets. Something to look forward to. Anyway, here are a few photos that I took during the prep:

I also took some shots with film, a role that I'd started a while ago that I need to finish. Later though, I remembered it was a B&W roll, which is probably the wrong choice for these.

I really like food photography!

Looks really yummy! Actually it looks great AND colourful, but onions and broccoli could never really be yummy. :)

Love that red cutting board and couldn't help but notice the 6-piece measuring spoon set. You may not have lots of equipment, but what you have is good stuff and I'm certain you put it all to good use. See you soon!!!!
