Asturias (May 2009)

Here are my top 40-something pictures from my trip to Spain. The northern region where I stayed is called Asturias, and I lived in a city called Gijón. I stayed there for 3.5 weeks for my senior internship. I shadowed various schools (ranging from toddlers to college students), made comparisons between the education systems in Spain and in the U.S., as well as helped out in English classes, lived like the Asturianos, and of course, captured it all on film. Hope ya like!

I’ve had all kinds of fun snapping photos of the boys from my favorite band, Fools & Horses. It helps that they’re from Baltimore and don’t mind playing close to home. Not to mention, they’re very photogenic! Some of these photos have been sitting in my library, half-edited for weeks. But I FINALLY got my act together and picked out my favorites. The moment apparently everyone has been waiting for--my new puppy's pictures. I've had her already for almost a month but haven't been able to share any pictures because of my sketchy internet situation. But the moment has finally arrived: Marley's debut!!

A thought that just came to mind is Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes's baby, Suri. Because of Cruise's Scientology beliefs, he hid Suri from the public eye for months, if I'm not mistaken. It was all very strange. So, in an effort to NOT move toward Scientology, here are some pictures:

{Side note: I only took the first 3 pictures. Daniel took the others when I was in Jerusalem.}

Looking serious...

She has chocolate-dipped ears!

She was SO sleepy when we first got her. But apparently, that's just what puppies do.

She LOVES empty toilet paper rolls. But the noise of her chewing them gives Daniel the creeps.

This looks like an ad for one of those organizations that feed children in 3rd world countries.

Marley and her friend Chief. Daniel did a good job capturing their interesting expressions.

Making new friends. There are tons of dogs in Farod, and they all roam freely around the kibbutz.

Daniel and I are proud that Marley seems to always stand her ground.

Daddy- Haha, I was about to say, "that's not very nice!" until I read the end of the sentence.

Alana-I thought maybe she looked like Sadie, but I couldn't be sure since I have yet to meet her.

Marley could definitely be Sadie's cousin. The coloring is similar-Sadie has dark dips, too, on the tip of her tail, her lower jaw and the borders of her ears. Marley looks like she is bursting with personality. And that first photo of her and Chief is surreal-their eyes are so striking. It almost looks like animation rather than reality. Loved Daniel's action shots, particularly the nose to nose, getting to know you pic.
